Welcome to the DIY Helper Blog

I must confess, I am a Do it Yourself Junkie! My wife and I do everything ourselves. We have almost totally remodeled our home from inside to out all by ourselves. Don't get me wrong, I am self taught and stubborn but not stupid. I will hire a job out if it takes an expert or licensed contractor to do the job, but those times are few and far between. believe me, YOU Can Do This.

Xeriscape Consulting

Southern California is built in a desert with little to no natural water. Aside from the  occasional rain storm ( maybe 15″ per year) they virtually buy all there water. Average costs of water in Southern California, are $371 and $478 per AF- the average house uses 75,000 – 78,000 gallons of water per year. One inch of rain falling on 1 acre of ground is equal to about 27154 gallons.
